Hossam Hassan: Happy with the Victory and Thankful to the Egyptian People for Their Support
Hossam Hassan, the head coach of the Egyptian national team, expressed his great happiness with his team's 3-1 victory over New Zealand on Monday, in the second round of Group G in the 2026 World Cup.
The Egyptian national team is close to qualifying for the round of 32 in the World Cup, as they lead their group with 4 points from a win and a draw. They are ahead of Iran and Belgium, who are in second and third place respectively, while the New Zealand team is at the bottom of the standings with one point.
Hossam Hassan said in a television interview after the end of the match: "I am very happy with this victory, and I thank the entire Egyptian people for their support."
He added: "This victory is dedicated to all Egyptians, both men and women. I am extremely happy, and my feelings are similar to those of millions of Egyptians after this win."
He continued: "We were successful in the match and put in a great effort, especially after the first half, which we ended with a goal against us. However, our performance improved, and we managed to win in the second half."
Hossam concluded his speech by saying: "I thank all the players, the technical and administrative staff. Everyone put in great effort to achieve the Egyptians' dream in the World Cup."
