Milan Aims to Sign Morten Hjulmand

Saturday 20-06-2026
AC Milan continues its efforts to sign midfielder Morten Hjulmand during the summer transfer window, as the team's coach, Ruben Amorim, wishes to reunite with the player after having coached him at Sporting Lisbon.

According to what was published by "Football Italia," Hjulmand is considered the primary target to strengthen AC Milan's midfield, especially within the new 3-4-2-1 tactical system that relies on a midfielder capable of intercepting the ball and quickly building attacks.

Hjulmand transferred to Sporting Lisbon from Lecce in the summer of 2023 for 20 million euros, before becoming one of the team's key players and being awarded the captain's armband, with his market value significantly increasing in recent times.

The details indicate that there is a prior agreement between the player and the Portuguese club allowing him to leave in the summer of 2026 for 45 million euros instead of activating the release clause of 80 million euros, which gives Milan a strong opportunity to complete the deal.

The report also clarified that this secret clause might facilitate Milan's task in negotiations, although the financial value remains a challenge in the absence of Champions League revenues for the club.
