Yassine Bounou, the goalkeeper of the Moroccan national team, acknowledged the difficulty of the match against their Scottish counterparts, despite securing a 1-0 victory. The game was held at Boston Stadium in the United States as part of the second round of the group stage of the 2026 World Cup.

In statements made to "beIN Sports," Bounou confirmed that the match was not easy, praising the way the team handled it, saying: "We played a tough match, and the opponent gave us the opportunity to attack. We didn't rush and delivered a great performance, and we won."

The Moroccan international goalkeeper added that the team benefited from the spaces available during the match, explaining: "When the Scottish players tried to press us, we exploited the spaces and got opportunities. They only tried to press us hard in the last 10 minutes, and things went smoothly."

Bono also emphasized that the Moroccan national team is progressing both defensively and offensively, noting that upcoming challenges will be tougher and require greater readiness. He stated: "The Moroccan team is developing defensively and offensively with each match, especially since the upcoming games will be more difficult, and we need to maintain physical fitness."

Regarding the upcoming match against Haiti, Bono emphasized that the team's focus is on each game individually, adding: "Facing Haiti? We approach each match one at a time, and we will play seriously without thinking about anything else."

On the sidelines of the match, where Ismail Saibari scored the only winning goal, the Moroccan national team became the second highest-scoring African team in World Cup history with 22 goals, tying with Cameroon and trailing Nigeria by one goal.
