Friday 19-06-2026
Yasser Ibrahim, the defender of the Egyptian national team, said he hopes the Pharaohs will reach the semifinals of the 2026 World Cup, emphasizing that Egypt will not be just a guest of honor at the tournament.

Yasser Ibrahim said in a television interview, in response to a question about his predictions for the teams that will qualify for the World Cup semi-finals: "Spain, Brazil, Argentina, and hopefully Egypt will be in the semi-finals."

He continued: "We did not qualify to be just a guest of honor or to merely participate in the World Cup. We have hope and optimism, and we will present something worthy of Egypt's name."

The Egyptian national team began its World Cup campaign with a 1-1 draw against Belgium, in Group G, which also includes the teams of New Zealand and Iran.

The Pharaohs are preparing to face New Zealand early next Monday in the second round of the group stage of the tournament.
