Al Ahly Nominated to Face Barcelona in Joan Gamper Cup
The Spanish club Barcelona is currently determining its opponent for the upcoming edition of the annual Joan Gamper Trophy, which kicks off the new season.
The Spanish newspaper "Marca" reported that Al Ahly of Egypt is close to facing Barcelona in a friendly match.
The newspaper indicated that holding a match between the two teams might be part of the understandings accompanying the transfer agreement of the Egyptian Hamza Abdel Karim, after he delivered good performances during his loan period to the youth team in Barcelona in the last months of the previous season, before joining the Egyptian national team participating in the World Cup.
Barcelona has completed its agreement with Al-Ahly to activate the option to purchase Hamza Abdel Karim's contract, in a deal valued at 1.5 million euros, along with financial incentives and other conditional additions.
The negotiations are progressing positively, with the proposal for a match between Barcelona and Al Ahly in the Joan Gamper Cup still on the table, although the Catalan club has not yet officially decided on the date or the opponent.
