Ivory Coast National Team Loses Striker Against Germany for Unexpected Reason

The Ivory Coast national team will have to play their second group stage match in the World Cup against Germany on Saturday in Toronto without their forward Elye Wahi.

According to the union's statements, the player, who is on loan at the French club Nice, was denied entry by Canadian authorities.

According to The Athletic, an investigation is underway in France against Wahi "on charges of suspected organized fraud, organized corruption in sports, and money laundering" concerning violations related to the French league match between Nice and Metz on May 17.

It is alleged that Wahi deliberately received a yellow card in that match, and the French League discovered suspicious betting behavior related to that warning.

It is said that the attacker was temporarily detained for about two weeks before the start of the World Cup and that investigations are ongoing.
