Cucurella: I Did Not Hesitate to Accept Real Madrid's Offer, and These Are My Qualities

The Spanish star Marco Curella appeared in a press interview, during which he talked about joining Real Madrid from Chelsea, despite interest from several clubs, most notably Atletico Madrid and Barcelona.

Cucurella said in his conversation: "I spoke with Mourinho. We talked, and he told me that he is very eager to work with me, that I will adapt quickly, and that Real Madrid is a great club. Then he wished me luck in the World Cup and said that we will meet in Madrid."

He added, "I had several offers, but when the offer from Real Madrid came, I didn't hesitate. I think it's a unique opportunity. Playing for Real Madrid is a great honor, and not many players get it, so I had no doubts. I believe that I and those around me, my family, were in complete agreement that it was an opportunity that couldn't be refused. I'm happy with my decision."

He continued: "Everything started last Sunday when my agent informed me that everything was finalized and only some paperwork and small details were left. We arranged everything in a day or a day and a half, then they announced it. It was a bit more challenging due to the time difference, as it was released just hours before the Cape Verde match, but the truth is everything was already done. At that moment, I was focused on the match and had no reason to worry."

He continued: "I believe everything was completed within a day and a half or two days. This is much better for me, much faster, and without any hassle. The deal has finally been completed and I am very happy. Happy to sign, and especially happy because I will be able to focus on the national team and the World Cup, which I consider a unique opportunity and one I deserve."

Regarding his joining Real Madrid despite growing up and playing in Barcelona: "Life consists of different stages. In this case, I had to make an important decision and I have no doubt, I believe it's a big step for me. When you're a child, you dream of playing for big clubs, and I think Real Madrid is one of them. It's the team that has won the most Champions League titles, and I hope I can win trophies with them and have a very beautiful phase."

He added: "Few people watching the matches can explain how Real Madrid can come back in the score or win games when it seems like it's over. The ability to be part of this, to live this feeling from the inside, and to experience those magical nights is something I think any football player in the world would find appealing. If given the chance to experience that, you would have few doubts left."

Regarding his qualities as a player, he said: "I am a very diligent player and extremely determined, someone who tries to give everything until the last moment and never stops trying. I believe this is part of Real Madrid's DNA, that thing they call 'until the end.' I hope to have the opportunity to experience magical nights and fight for titles."

He concluded: "Did Mourinho tell you it was either you or he wouldn't sign a left-back? Honestly, no, I don't know if he said that to me. He told me he wanted me, and nothing else. I am very happy with this trust. I am eagerly looking forward to starting work with him."
