Wednesday 17-06-2026
The Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo continued to make history, having achieved several records during his participation in the match between the Portugal national team and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, in the first round of the group stage of the 2026 World Cup.

At 41 years and 132 days old, Ronaldo became the oldest player to start a match in World Cup history, surpassing all players who have previously appeared in the tournament. However, Cameroonian Roger Milla remains the oldest player to participate in terms of age, but he came on as a substitute and did not start the match.

The captain of the Portuguese national team also became the first European player to participate in six different editions of the World Cup, having appeared in the 2006, 2010, 2014, 2018, 2022, and 2026 tournaments.

Ronaldo continued to cement his place in the history of the tournament after equaling the record for the most appearances in different editions of the World Cup, with a total of 6 editions, matching the Argentine legend Lionel Messi.

This exceptional achievement underscores Ronaldo's continued breaking of records, adding a new chapter to his illustrious career with the Portugal national team and on the global stage.
