Flick Studies Several Options to Support Yamal's Position in Barcelona

Hans Flick continues to work on identifying the suitable alternative for Lamine Yamal within Barcelona's project for the new season 2026/2027, as the technical staff seeks to ensure multiple options in the right-wing position without affecting the team's technical balance.

The Spanish newspaper 'Mundo Deportivo' indicated that the German coach considered Roni Bardji the natural alternative for Lamine Yamal throughout last season, which he confirmed in more than one press conference. Despite the Swedish player getting opportunities to participate, especially during the period when Lamine Yamal was absent due to injury, Flick resorted in some matches to other solutions, benefiting from the ability of several players to occupy more than one position.

Bardji remains the first choice to replace Lamine Yamal so far, even though his future with the club has not been definitively decided. Barcelona is considering his departure during the transfer period, as he is of interest to several clubs, although no official offers have reached the club's management. Additionally, the player's value has decreased after being excluded from his national team's squad for the World Cup.

Ferran Torres also emerges as one of the proposed solutions, as he considers being repositioned on the right side along with the possibility of relying on him as a false nine. His chances of participating in this position may increase if Barcelona signs a traditional forward in the near future, especially since he has previously performed this role on past occasions.

Marcus Rashford remains among the available options, having played in this position last season and succeeded in providing an assist to Robert Lewandowski. According to the same source, the English player still hopes to continue his journey with Barcelona if the club can reach a new agreement ensuring his stay after the end of his loan period and without activating the purchase option.

Among the alternatives the club is also considering is the possibility of re-signing Vergili, who excels in playing on the wings. Barcelona owns 40% of the player's rights, and Real Mallorca's relegation to the second division led to a reduction in his release clause to 12 million euros, making the cost of reclaiming him for the Catalan club 7.2 million euros. The Spanish newspaper confirmed that meetings have already been held to discuss this file.

At the same time, Barcelona does not rule out signing a new player or promoting one of the reserve team elements or giving an opportunity to another young talent, but without significant financial investment, given the club's conviction that Lamine Yamal will remain the primary option in this position and will participate in most matches whenever he is physically ready.
