Real Madrid Considers Terminating Contract with Mendy

Tuesday 16-06-2026
The Spanish newspaper "AS" revealed that Real Madrid is considering the possibility of terminating the contract of French full-back Ferland Mendy, given his reduced role within the team and his ongoing physical issues in recent seasons.

According to the report, the management of the Royal Club is considering all options regarding the player's future, as frequent absences due to injuries have become one of the main factors affecting his continuity and participation with the team.

Mendy had previously renewed his contract with Real Madrid, although the club did not officially disclose the duration of the contract. However, reports suggest that his commitment extends until the summer of 2027 or 2028.

The French international joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2019 from Olympique Lyon for around 50 million euros. He played 210 matches for the royal club in various competitions, scoring 6 goals and providing 12 assists.

This development comes at a time when Real Madrid continues to restructure its lineup under the leadership of Portuguese coach José Mourinho, who aims to build a more prepared and stable team to compete in all championships in the upcoming season.
