Hossam Hassan, the head coach of the Egyptian national team, expressed his satisfaction with the performance of his players following the Pharaohs' draw with Belgium in the 2026 World Cup.

The match between Egypt and Belgium in the first round of the group stage of the World Cup ended in a 1-1 draw.

Hossam Hassan stated after the match that the Belgian national team is one of the best in the world and has great players, noting that the Egyptian team was better and the Brazilian referee did not award them a deserved penalty.

He added that the Egyptian national team holds a significant position and that the Pharaohs succeeded in imposing their rhythm during the match. He clarified that he would set aside the Belgium encounter to focus entirely on the upcoming two matches, with the aim of securing qualification to the second round.

Hossam Hassan expressed his gratitude to all the players for their tremendous effort despite the high temperatures, as well as to the Egyptian fans who were keen to attend and support the team.

The Egyptian national team will face New Zealand in the second round on the upcoming Monday, June 22nd.
