The young striker Hamza Abdel Karim entered World Cup history after participating in Egypt's match against Belgium, in the first round of the group stage of the 2026 World Cup, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

Hamza Abdel Karim became the youngest player to participate with the Egyptian national team in World Cup history at the age of 18 years and 165 days, breaking the previous record held by Mostafa Kamel Mansour since the 1934 edition, when he participated at the age of 19 years and 9 months.

The young player also became the youngest Arab player to participate in the World Cup throughout history.

This historic achievement coincided with the draw result between Egypt and Belgium, in the opening of the two teams' journey in the tournament, in a match that witnessed great competitiveness and exciting events between the two sides.

Egypt's next match will be against New Zealand on Monday, June 22nd.
