Iran Coach: We Are Here to Play Football
The coach of the Iranian national team, Amir Ghalenoei, emphasized that his team will play in the World Cup to represent and bring pride to all Iranians around the world.
The Iran national team will face New Zealand tomorrow morning, Tuesday, as part of the first round matches of Group G in the 2026 World Cup.
Amir Ghalenoei said in statements reported by ESPN: "I would like to assure you that we are here to play football, and that we are here to represent the noble Iranian people, whether they are inside Iran or part of the Iranian community abroad."
He continued: "We only think about our country, we are not politicians, and we respect every individual from the Iranian people."
