Hossam Hassan: Our Goal is to Reach the Second Round of the World Cup
Hossam Hassan, the head coach of the Egyptian national team, spoke about his team's upcoming match against Belgium in the World Cup.
The Egyptian national team is preparing to face the Belgian national team this Monday evening, in the first round of the group stage of the 2026 World Cup.
In his statements during the press conference before the match, Hossam Hassan said: "The Egyptian national team is not insignificant compared to foreign teams; we have won 7 continental championships that no one else in Africa has achieved."
He added, "The World Cup is not new to me. I appreciate everything that's happening and I've prepared for it, along with the experiences I've gained both as a player and as a coach."
He continued: "My ambition for the Egyptian people and the high morale of the Egyptian national team is what matters to me right now. We want to meet their expectations, even though we have a tough match ahead of us in the first round (Belgium)."
He continued: "I had the honor of playing alongside Ibrahim against Belgium and we defeated them. Hopefully, we will achieve a positive result against them as coaches. Naturally, they are favored to top the group, but our goal is to reach the second round through the three matches, not just relying on one match."
The Egyptian national team is in Group G of the World Cup alongside the teams of Belgium, Iran, and New Zealand.
The match between Egypt and Belgium will kick off at 10:00 PM Cairo and Mecca time.
