Japan Snatches a Dramatic Draw from the Clutches of the Netherlands in the World Cup

The match between the Netherlands and Japan ended in a thrilling 2-2 draw, as part of the first round of the group stage in the 2026 World Cup.

The Dutch team took the lead through Virgil van Dijk in the 51st minute after a long ball from Gravenberch, which van Dijk headed, hitting the post and landing in the net.

In the 57th minute, the Japanese team equalized with a stunning shot by Kaito Nakamura from the edge of the penalty area, following a pass from Kubo.

The Netherlands managed to score a second goal through Crysencio Summerville in the 64th minute, with a shot from inside the penalty area that hit the post and went in.

In the 89th minute, Japan equalized again after a corner cross was headed by Koki Ogawa, then deflected off his teammate Daichi Kamada and into the net.

After this draw, each team earned one point at the start of their campaign in the tournament.
