Vingada: Egypt Capable of Qualifying from Their World Cup Group

Sunday 14-06-2026
Nelo Vingada, the former coach of Zamalek Club, affirmed that the Egyptian national team is capable of advancing to the next round despite the difficulty of their group.

Vingada said on the "On Stadium" program on "On Sport" channel: "Egypt is in a group that includes Belgium, Iran, and New Zealand, and it is clear that it is not an easy group. However, it is a group in which the Pharaohs have the ability to fight and compete to secure a place in the next round."

He added: "I believe that Belgium, although not the team we knew in the past, still holds a certain advantage thanks to the strength and rhythm of European football."

He explained: "As for Egypt, in my opinion, it is on a similar level to Iran, while the New Zealand team is distinguished by great physical strength, and some of its players are active in European leagues, so it will not be an easy competitor."

He continued: "I expect the group to be balanced and to give Egypt a real chance to qualify for the second round, which is the clear goal at this stage."

He affirmed: "I don't see Egypt as having any clear weaknesses; rather, it has a balanced and cohesive team across all positions. Of course, there are players capable of making a difference, such as Mohamed Salah and Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet, who can lead the team to positive results, especially since the Egyptian national team is considered one of the biggest teams in Africa."
