De Bruyne: Egypt Match Will Be Tough, We Hope to Win

Sunday 14-06-2026
Kevin De Bruyne, the star of the Belgian national team, confirmed that the match against Egypt will be difficult, noting that his team will prepare well for the game.

The Belgium national team will face the Egypt national team tomorrow, Monday, in the first round of the group stage of the 2026 World Cup.

The Belgium national team is in Group G alongside the teams of Egypt, Iran, and New Zealand.

De Bruyne said in statements during a press conference: "The first match is always difficult. I remember from all previous World Cups that we never had an easy start. The match against Egypt will be tough and physical, but we will make sure to be prepared."

He added: "We started well, and what I saw in the first two weeks seemed sharp to me. Our first two matches were also good. We hope to achieve victory over Egypt. In any case, I believe I have more freedom here than I did in Italy."

He concluded: "The pitch for the Egypt national team's match? The field might be dry due to the heat, but other than that, everything is fine. We hope it will be filled with fans, and not being able to train here won't be an issue."
