Body Found Inside Car Near Iran National Team Training Stadium

A body was found inside the trunk of a parked car near the stadium where the Iranian national team trains in the city of Tijuana, northwest Mexico, during the team's stay in preparation for the 2026 World Cup, according to the French news agency AFP.

The French news agency reported that the body was found in a parking lot of a supermarket located directly opposite Caliente Stadium, which is used by the Iranian team for daily training since their arrival in the city, and is about a minute away from the team's accommodation.

The same source indicated that the police opened a gray Toyota SUV, which led to a strong odor in the area, before specialists wearing white protective clothing examined the site and handled the body.

The French news agency quoted the Tijuana prosecutor's office stating that a security patrol discovered the body while inspecting the vehicle, and an initial report stated: "During the vehicle inspection, a person wrapped inside a black bag was found in its trunk, showing signs of violence."

The same source added that the car had been parked at the location since Wednesday, according to a spokesperson for the Tijuana prosecutor's office.

Tijuana is considered one of the most dangerous cities in Mexico, with more than 1,200 murder cases recorded in 2025.
