Catalonia Radio has revealed new developments in the future of Portuguese star Bernardo Silva, a player for Manchester City, amid a strong competition among major Spanish clubs to sign him during the transfer market.

According to the source, Atletico Madrid has currently become the closest to securing the player's services, surpassing Barcelona, although the latter was previously considered to have the deal almost sealed within the club's corridors.

The report explained that the player's entourage sees the Barcelona option as "cold" at the moment, due to the complexity of the negotiations, while some sources indicate that the operation is no longer as strong as it was before, making Atletico Madrid the frontrunner to sign him.

The radio added that Barcelona's sporting director Deco and coach Hans Flick were initially hesitant about the deal, before the player's insistence changed their minds and made the club open serious negotiations, with a preliminary agreement on personal terms and a salary reduction by the player.

Nevertheless, current indications suggest that the deal is still complicated and has not yet been resolved, with the competition between Barcelona and Atletico Madrid continuing, and the possibility of the negotiations collapsing entirely if a final agreement is not reached in the coming period.

It is worth mentioning that Real Madrid has entered the race to sign the player, especially with the arrival of coach Jose Mourinho to train Real Madrid, while the player is expected to decide his future after participating in the World Cup with the Portuguese national team.
