The Influence of Jorge Mendes in Barcelona's Transfer Market

Barcelona's transfer market is clearly influenced by the Portuguese agent Jorge Mendes, who plays a prominent role in several files related to the team's formation for the 2026/2027 season.

The Spanish newspaper 'Mundo Deportivo' reported that Mendes is negotiating with the Saudi club Al Hilal regarding Joao Cancelo, in addition to managing Ansu Fati's transfer to Monaco, facilitating Marc Casado's departure, managing Balde's file, and contributing to the potential arrival of Bernardo Silva to Barcelona.

The newspaper added that the name of striker Darwin Nunez was also mentioned during talks with the Saudi club as a low-cost option to strengthen the attack line, in case Julian Alvarez or other alternatives are not signed.

The data indicates that Ansu Fati's transfer to Monaco could be completed for 11 million euros, which is the agreed-upon purchase option value in the previous loan contract, with the possibility of including a buy-back clause or a final sale, helping Barcelona reduce the wage bill and improve the financial fair play margin.

Mendes is also working on Marc Casado's file, who is not part of Barcelona's plans, as the club seeks to benefit from his sale amid several offers, while also managing Alejandro Balde's future as his official agent and receiving offers for him.

The Bernardo Silva file also remains within the Portuguese agent's interests, as the player has multiple offers and hinted at the possibility of moving to Barcelona, with coach Hans Flick's approval, making him one of the top market opportunities for the Catalan club.
