A recent statistical reading issued by the International Federation of Association Football showed a clear variation in the competitive record of different continents in World Cup history, up to the end of the Qatar 2022 edition.
Europe tops the list by a large margin, having achieved 468 victories in 808 matches, with a winning percentage of 58%, compared to 188 draws and 152 losses, confirming its historical dominance in the global tournament.
South America came in second with 185 victories out of 358 matches, with a winning percentage of 52%, while Africa recorded 37 victories during 162 matches, ranking third in terms of the number of victories.
North and Central America and the Caribbean came fourth with 34 victories out of 152 matches, followed by Asia with 25 victories in 136 matches, while Oceania came in last with only one victory out of 13 matches.
In terms of teams, the Brazilian team remains the most victorious historically in the World Cup from South America, while Germany tops the list of European teams with the most victories, reflecting the continued superiority of the two most present and influential continents in the history of the tournament.
