Meteb: Zizo Did Not Cause a Crisis in Al Ahly's Dressing Room

Friday 05-06-2026
Imad Meteb, the former star of Al-Ahly and the Egyptian national team, confirmed that Ahmed Sayed Zizo, the Al-Ahly player, did not disrupt the locker room at the club.

Mutab said in media statements: "The current Al-Ahly players are the best in Egypt, but they lack passion and spirit. They need to exert more effort and feel the fans' disappointment. They must understand that a draw for Al-Ahly is a significant matter, not just the loss of two points, and that losing a championship, although possible, is a major event for the club."

Regarding Zizo's transfer to Al Ahly, it was clarified: "Zizo was the best player in Egypt during his time at Zamalek. However, in the current season, the entire Al Ahly team is underperforming. What respectable management would have Zizo available and not sign him? People would have been the first to blame the management for not acquiring him."

He continued: "The talk about Zizo disrupting the atmosphere in Al Ahly's dressing room is not true. The recent crisis in the club is due to the negotiation policy with players from the start and the adjustment of contracts shortly after signing."

He continued: "In 2008, I was the striker for the Egyptian national team and the top scorer for Al Ahly, and my contract was 250,000 pounds. When Al Ahly signed Ahmed Hassan Estakoza, they gave him five times my contract. Nevertheless, I respected my contract, but I decided that when it was time to renew, I would ask for a suitable compensation for myself."
