Historic Goal Scorers for Algeria in the World Cup

Throughout its history of participation in the World Cup, Algeria has scored 13 goals, achieved by 10 different players, including three players who each managed to score two goals. This number is relatively limited due to the few participations of the national team, but it reflects a notable individual presence in different stages of the tournament, especially in the 1982 and 2014 editions.

The 1982 World Cup witnessed the first Algerian goal-scoring presence in the tournament's history through Rabah Madjer, who scored the team's first goal. Meanwhile, his teammate Salah Assad shone by scoring two goals in the historic 3-2 victory over Chile, affirming his status as one of the prominent attacking figures of that era.

In the 2014 World Cup, the Algerian national team returned to deliver its best scoring performances, with Abdelmoumene Djabou and Islam Slimani each scoring two goals, contributing to the thrilling 4-2 victory over South Korea. Slimani also added a historic goal against Russia, granting Algeria a ticket to the second round for the first time in its history.

In the knockout stages, Djabou scored a consolation goal against Germany in the 121st minute during a match that went into extra time, making him the top scorer for the national team in the World Cup alongside Assad and Slimani.
