Benfica Announces the Cost of Real Madrid's Deal with Mourinho
Benfica has officially announced the financial details associated with the transfer of Portuguese coach José Mourinho to Real Madrid, in the event of Florentino Pérez winning the presidency of the Spanish club.
The Portuguese club stated in an official statement that the cost of signing Mourinho will amount to approximately 15 million euros.
The statement added that this amount was determined after several clauses in the coach's contract, where there was a period immediately after the end of the season allowing his signing for 7.5 million euros, before the clause later increased to 15 million euros.
The report indicated that this deal, if completed, could become the most expensive in the history of coach transfers within Real Madrid, and the third most expensive coach deal in football history, behind Julian Nagelsmann's transfer to Bayern Munich for 25 million euros, and Graham Potter to Chelsea for 23 million euros.
The statement also confirmed that José Mourinho will be Real Madrid's coach if Florentino Pérez wins the elections.
Conversely, the other candidate, Enrique Riquelme, has a different plan for selecting the head coach if he assumes the presidency of the club.
