Monaco Rules Out Signing Casado

Thursday 04-06-2026
The future of Marc Casado with Barcelona remains uncertain, as the Catalan club continues to search for a new destination for the player during the current transfer window, after he was excluded from coach Hans Flick's plans for the upcoming season.

The Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo" reported that Jorge Mendes, Casado's agent, offered the player to several clubs, including Monaco in France, but the club did not show a genuine interest in joining the competition to sign him.

Casado's name has been linked to several destinations recently, most notably Atletico Madrid and clubs from the Saudi league, before Monaco emerged as one of the potential options. However, the French club's interest was limited to listening to the proposal without taking any further steps.

The newspaper added that Mendes brought up the player's name during ongoing talks with Monaco regarding Ansu Fati's case, but the negotiations did not see any progress concerning Casado's transfer.

Despite the decline in the number of clubs interested in signing him after Monaco's exclusion, some Premier League and Bundesliga clubs are still monitoring the player's situation, alongside ongoing interest from Saudi clubs, although no official offers have been made yet.

Barcelona remains firm in its decision not to rely on Casado for the next season, despite the progress he has shown with the first team recently, which has helped enhance his status as one of the reliable options in midfield and attracted the interest of several clubs.
