Potential Penalty Threatens Zamalek Due to Abdullah Gomaa
Saleh Gomaa, the former Al Ahly and Egypt national team player, sparked new controversy regarding the legal situation of Zamalek Club after revealing the possibility of the club facing a new penalty related to overdue financial dues owed to his brother, Abdullah Gomaa.
Saleh Gomaa explained during a television interview that his brother's dues issue is still ongoing, emphasizing that Abdullah Gomaa insists on his legal right to receive his overdue financial entitlements from the White Castle.
He pointed out that the case is heading towards the corridors of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), explaining that the file is being handled by the Tunisian lawyer Anis Ben Maim, whom he described as a professional and diligent individual in his work.
The former player added that the potential penalties in the case could reach up to half a million dollars in favor of Abdullah Gomaa, if a final ruling is issued in his favor, which may open a new legal front for Zamalek in the coming period.
Abdullah Gomaa is considered one of the names that left a clear mark within the White team, having defended the club's colors between 2017 and 2024. He played 155 matches in various competitions, during which he scored two goals and provided 15 assists.
During his career with Zamalek, the left-back contributed to winning several local and continental titles, including the Egyptian Premier League twice, the CAF Confederation Cup twice, as well as the Egypt Cup twice, and the Egyptian and African Super Cups.
Abdullah Gomaa left Zamalek during the winter transfer window of 2024, after moving to Baladiyat Al-Mahalla on a free transfer. He later departed from the team, leaving him without a club until now.
