The Spanish newspaper 'Mundo Deportivo' reported that Christensen is only waiting to receive the official contracts from Barcelona to review them with his agent before setting a signing date, with both parties agreeing to extend the contract for two additional seasons. The player's current contract expires on June 30th next year.

Despite receiving better financial offers from other clubs, the Danish defender preferred to continue his career with Barcelona due to his sense of stability within the club, his comfort with life in the city, and his family's desire to stay. He also aims to make up for the periods he missed due to injuries over the past two seasons and to prove his ability to contribute more in the team's jersey.
