Barcelona Plans to Improve Marc Bernal's Contract

FC Barcelona intends to review the contract of young midfielder Marc Bernal in the coming period, following the notable progress he has made with the first team during the 2025/2026 season. This step aims to align his contractual status with his current position within the squad.

The Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo" reported that Barcelona's management is considering improving Bernal's contract at the start of the next season, although the matter is not currently a pressing priority. The newspaper confirmed that the club has not taken any official steps so far.

Last season marked a significant turning point in the player's career, as he returned from a severe knee injury that had kept him off the field for a long time. Gradually, he succeeded in establishing himself in the starting lineup and became an important element in the team's midfield under the leadership of Hansi Flick.

Despite later suffering a leg injury and an ankle sprain that temporarily halted his progress, the levels he displayed earned him a prominent position within the club.

Bernal's current contract extends until the summer of 2029, after being renewed upon reaching adulthood, and includes a release clause of 500 million euros.

The same source indicated that the player received various offers, whether for a permanent transfer or on loan, but he insists on staying in Barcelona. This is the same stance adopted by the club, as he is one of the names Hans Flick is counting on in his future project.
