Discover the Fastest Goal in World Cup History

Turkish striker Hakan Sukur etched his name in World Cup history by scoring the fastest goal in the tournament's history, just 11 seconds into the third-place match at the 2002 World Cup against South Korea.

The official website of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) mentioned that Sukur, who was experiencing a goal drought during the tournament, managed to respond quickly in that match despite speculation about his potential exclusion from the starting lineup.

The goal came after a pressing play by his teammate Ilhan Mansiz, who capitalized on a mistake in the ball's return from the kickoff, before passing it to Sukur, who received it and shot it directly into the net, giving Turkey an early lead.

The same source explained that the goal came just 11 seconds in, marking it as the fastest goal in World Cup history so far.

The official FIFA website also noted that the list of fastest goals in World Cup history includes Vaclav Masek "15 seconds in 1962", Ernst Lehner "25 seconds in 1934", Bryan Robson "28 seconds in 1982", and Clint Dempsey "30 seconds in 2014", all trailing the record set by Hakan Sukur.
