Juventus Nears Excluding Thiago Motta from Club's Payroll List

Monday 01-06-2026
Juventus is preparing to end its association permanently with former coach Thiago Motta, who is still receiving his salary from the club despite being dismissed during the second half of the 2024/2025 season, according to 'La Gazzetta dello Sport'.

Thiago Motta took over coaching Juventus before the start of the 2024/2025 season, succeeding Massimiliano Allegri, after his success in leading Bologna to a Champions League qualifying position in the previous season, before being appointed with a contract extending until the summer of 2027.

However, he lasted less than a season in his position, as he was dismissed and replaced by Igor Tudor, who later left, and his contract was terminated in January, paving the way for him to take over as a temporary coach for Tottenham.

According to the same source, Thiago Motta has remained unemployed since leaving Juventus and is still on the club's payroll list despite more than a year passing since he left his coaching position.

The newspaper added that Juventus will be able to terminate his contract permanently starting June 1, based on a clause in the agreement between the two parties.

It also clarified that the Italian club will have to pay a lump sum less than the remaining salaries in his contract, which are estimated at about 3.5 million euros annually.

Once this step is completed, Luciano Spalletti will be the only coach listed on the club's current payroll.
