Belgium Coach: We Know the Egyptian Team Well and I Know Everything About Mohamed Salah

Belgium's head coach, Rudy Garcia, spoke about the Egyptian national team and the challenges and aspirations awaiting his team in the 2026 World Cup.

The Belgium national team is in Group G of the World Cup, alongside the teams of Egypt, Iran, and New Zealand.

In an interview with the official website of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), Garcia said, "We must distinguish between our goal and our ambition. Our priority is to get past the group stage."

He added: "We want to top the group to get a more favorable path, and ideally, to stay (in Seattle during the round of 32). That's our goal."

Garcia refused to underestimate the opponents, saying: "We have great respect for the other three teams in our group. This is the essence of the World Cup."

He spoke about the Egyptian national team, saying: "We know the Egyptian team well, as it is one of the best teams in Africa. I know everything about Mohamed Salah because I coached him in Rome. We will also face a team from Oceania and another from Asia."

He continued: "We know less about them because we don't watch them much, but we are excited to learn about the capabilities of the Iranian and New Zealand teams."

Garcia emphasized: "Let's start by respecting our opponents in the group stage. Let's beat them, finish the group at the top, and then see how far we can go in the World Cup."
