Despite Signing Gordon, Rashford Insists on Staying in Barcelona

Marcus Rashford still prioritizes continuing with Barcelona, despite the Catalan club signing the English winger Anthony Gordon in preparation for the 2026/2027 season.

The Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo" confirmed that the Manchester United striker is still monitoring developments regarding his future with Barcelona and holds onto hope of continuing his journey with the team. This is based on conversations he had with coach Hans Flick, who expressed satisfaction with his performance and a desire for him to stay, while noting that the final decision is also linked to financial aspects.

Barcelona has the option to buy Rashford for 30 million euros, with the potential agreement including the player signing a three-year contract. Despite being under contract with Manchester United until the summer of 2028, the English international does not wish to return to his club; instead, he seeks to continue wearing the Barcelona jersey.

Rashford felt very comfortable in the Catalan team's dressing room and enjoyed working under Flick's leadership, which makes him eager to continue this phase of his career and not back down from it at the moment.

The newspaper added that the player does not see the arrival of Anthony Gordon as a direct threat to his future at Barcelona, even though the new arrival occupies similar attacking positions. This is because he was already aware of the club's desire to sign the Newcastle striker, who is also his teammate in the English national team.

Barcelona's management has not yet officially informed Rashford that they do not wish for him to continue, which encourages him to hold onto his chances and not consider other options. Despite several clubs being interested in acquiring his services after the good season he had, he is not currently considering any offers.

The player believes he is capable of occupying more than one offensive position within the team, including playing in the position currently held by Lamine Yamal, especially if the upcoming period sees the departure of Roni Bardji.

Rashford's main goal remains to win the UEFA Champions League with Barcelona, which drives him to continue prioritizing the Catalan club, as he awaits the final decisions regarding his future during the transfer market.
