Fan Anger in Naples Over Allegri's Return to the List of Candidates

Press reports indicated that Napoli held new talks with coach Massimiliano Allegri, while keeping Vincenzo Italiano as an alternative option, in the search for a new team manager, which sparked angry reactions from the club's fans.

This comes after Napoli needed a new coach following the departure of Antonio Conte, who left two years into his three-year contract, despite winning the Italian league title in his first season and then the Italian Super Cup.

Reportedly, club president Aurelio De Laurentiis has narrowed his options down to just two names: Allegri, who became available after being dismissed from coaching AC Milan, and Italiano, the current head coach of Bologna.

Sky Sport Italia indicates that although Italiano was the leading candidate, some issues have arisen regarding the termination of his contract with Bologna.

Accordingly, Napoli reopened negotiations with Allegri, while waiting for Italiano to hold a meeting with the Bologna management today, Thursday.

The return of Allegri's name to the list of candidates sparked angry reactions from Napoli fans, who attacked the club's social media accounts with messages demanding the rejection of his appointment.

Some fans also launched several online petitions demanding that he not be appointed as the team's head coach.

Napoli's attempts to sign Allegri date back to last summer when they reached out to him in anticipation of Antonio Conte possibly leaving after just one season. However, Conte decided to stay at that time, while Allegri took over as coach of Milan.
