Felipe Luis Leads the Race for Bayer Leverkusen Coaching

Bayer Leverkusen continues its search for a new head coach to lead the team in the upcoming period, with Brazilian Felipe Luis emerging as the leading candidate to take over the position from Kasper Hjulmand, according to Sky Sports.

The same source reported that Filipe Luís is at the top of the list of candidates within the German club, to be the first choice for Leverkusen's management at the current stage, with alternative options also on the club's table.

The network added that negotiations between Bayer Leverkusen's management and the Brazilian coach have already begun, as the club wishes to finalize the new head coach's appointment before officially announcing Hjulmand's departure.

The report indicated that Leverkusen's management plan involves announcing Kasper Hjulmand's departure once a final agreement with the new coach is reached, to ensure a smooth transition in the coaching staff.

Hjulmand took over as coach of Bayer Leverkusen after Erik ten Hag's departure at the beginning of last season following the second round, and he signed a contract that extends until 2027.

Felipe Luis has had a strong career as a player, having played 333 matches with Atletico Madrid and 44 matches with the Brazilian national team, before concluding his playing career with Flamengo in January 2024.

After his retirement, Filipe Luís began his coaching career with Flamengo in September 2024, leading the team to win the Brazilian league and the Copa Libertadores, before being dismissed last March. He is now the top candidate to coach Bayer Leverkusen.
