Omar Gaber: We Wished to Win the Confederation Cup for Its Technical and Financial Importance
Omar Gaber, the Zamalek star, spoke about his team's victory in the Egyptian Premier League and confirmed that the Whites were hoping to win the CAF Confederation Cup due to its technical and financial significance.
Omar Gaber said during a television interview: "We were hoping to win the Confederation Cup because it's a major tournament and it would have also helped the club financially, but thank God it wasn't meant for us to win it."
The Zamalek captain pointed out the difficulty of the recent match against Ceramica Cleopatra, emphasizing that the players' goal was to win the match and secure the league title to make the fans happy.
He continued: "I was suffering from an injury and watched the first half of the match from the stadium, but in the second half, I couldn't handle the stress and preferred to watch the game on TV."
The Zamalek captain concluded his remarks by stating that the team had hoped to end the season by winning two championships, but he emphasized that clinching the league title remains a significant achievement. He added, "Zamalek will always remain great thanks to its management, players, and fans."
