Modric and Rabiot are Close to Leaving Milan

Monday 25-05-2026
The failure of Milan to qualify for the Champions League has sparked concern within the club, as several issues are now directly linked to the fate of coach Massimiliano Allegri, chief among them the future of Croatian star Luka Modric and Frenchman Adrien Rabiot.

Modric, who quickly returned from a cheekbone fracture injury to participate in the final weeks, was considering staying for an additional season with Milan and having one last experience in the Champions League, a tournament he has won six times during his career.

However, the team's absence from the European competition, along with the uncertainty surrounding Allegri's future, has made the idea of leaving closer than ever, even though his contract allows him to continue for another year.

As for Rabiot, who joined Milan primarily due to his strong relationship with Allegri, he faces the same situation. The French player met with the coach and his teammate Matteo Gabbia following the loss to Cagliari, amid doubts about his continuation for another season away from the Champions League and possibly without the Italian coach. This is especially significant as he aims to maintain his position with the French national team ahead of the World Cup.

In the same context, Milan might also lose the Serbian defender Strahinja Pavlović, after attracting the interest of several clubs, most notably Manchester United, alongside Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe, given his outstanding performance this season under Allegri's management.
