McFarlane: Sunderland Deserved the Win, This is What We Need
Callum McFarlane, Chelsea's interim coach, spoke to the press following the 2-1 loss against Sunderland in the final round of the English Premier League.
The coach said, "It is a disappointing result and performance. We were not up to the capabilities of this team, and Sunderland deserved to win the match. I think they started the game well, and we couldn't keep up with their pace and strength. I was hoping we would gain momentum after Cole Palmer's goal."
He added, "We are very disappointed, and we did not perform well enough. This club should be participating in European competitions, and so should these players."
He concluded: "We will need to review the season and reflect on it to give the new coach the best chance to start the new season."
