Carrick: We Have a Strong Foundation to Build On, and Bruno is Extremely Influential
Michael Carrick, the manager of Manchester United, spoke after the 3-0 victory over Brighton in the latest round of the Premier League.
He said: "I think the biggest thing you can take from that is the confidence and belief that achieving results in this league is tough, and building a series of results is tough, I think that's the biggest thing."
He added: "Obviously, it's a new beginning in many ways, but we still have to rely on our experiences of being here in the past and what that's like. We must rely on those experiences and consider them positives. The players must do that."
He continued: "I think they deserve a lot of credit as a group for their consistency in different aspects during the match. Their strength, I think that's very important for us to appreciate. That's what gives me encouragement and enthusiasm to move forward."
He continued: "We have a very strong foundation to try to build on."
He continued: "I really enjoyed that, I think the players played fantastic football, it was a test match for us today, if you're not focused and playing at your level, it will be very difficult here."
He added: "The players were great, defended very well as a team, played fantastic football, we were all very dangerous, so it was enjoyable to watch, it was nice to finish the season this way."
He continued: "Everything starts from the next day, whatever you do, it's never enough, it will never be enough. That doesn't change, it just gives us a desire for more."
He added: "We need more and want more as a football club, and certainly as a team, it's a very good end to the season, and it gives us a foundation for next season and beyond."
He continued his talk about Bruno Fernandes: "It's great to have this number, it shows his consistency and quality, he himself said it depends on the players he passes to for finishing chances, he does it consistently, and he's very creative in some areas, it's no surprise he did it again today, he's an extremely influential player."
