Austrian David Alaba made emotional statements to Real Madrid TV after playing his last match in the Real Madrid jersey during the 4-2 victory over Athletic Bilbao in the final round of the Spanish League.

The player said: "I will speak in English to truly express how I feel. I feel very grateful. I am extremely thankful not only for this moment but also for the past five years. I have grown as a person and as a player. Of course, I have experienced many successful moments. I also went through a severe foot injury. But this club and the fans have always supported me. I felt that from the bottom of my heart, and for that, I am very grateful."

He added: "I just want to thank everyone, the team, the technical staff, the coaches, the president, and the fans. And of course, also my family. These five years have been very special. It is not easy to describe my feelings now because I am so grateful."

Regarding the famous picture with the chair, he said: "Of course, it was a special moment when I lifted the chair. But I was also surprised today to see so many chairs in the stands. That made me feel very grateful because it was a special moment. I just want to say thank you to them."

He concluded by saying: "It is truly a special club. It is the best and the biggest in the world. I have enjoyed these five years here. Real Madrid fans and everyone will always remain in my heart. I am extremely grateful. Madrid has become like a second home to me during these years. This period is part of this special journey, and a special chapter in the book of my life. Thank you very much."
