Carvajal: Real Madrid Will Rise Again, and I Lived Two Very Difficult Years

Sunday 24-05-2026
Real Madrid star Dani Carvajal spoke to the press following the 4-2 victory over Athletic Bilbao at the end of the Spanish league, noting that it was his last match wearing the royal club's jersey.

Carvajal said: "It's not easy for me to speak now because I'm very moved by this wonderful farewell. First, I would like to thank our president, Don Florentino. He was the one who brought me back from Germany, and together we won many Champions League titles. But if I had to mention one thing, it would be that less than 24 hours after my knee injury, he didn't hesitate to renew my contract. After that, I wanted to thank my teammates."

He added: "The past two seasons have not been easy for us, but I am sure we will win again. This is Real Madrid, and we must rise again, as our history tells us. I can't stop remembering the golden era, I can't stop remembering this golden era we lived through. We are concluding a remarkable era: four Champions League titles in five years, then the tenth title, three consecutive titles, Cristiano, Ramos, Ancelotti, Zidane... countless names that carried this emblem to new heights. They made us great and took us to the top."

He continued: "I would like to continue thanking my parents and my brother for their tremendous efforts when I was a child. You have always been by my side, thank you. And also to my wife and children... I have lived through two very difficult years, the bitter side of this sport, and you have filled my days with light. I love you all very much."

He concluded: "Thank you all, you are amazing. From the first day to the last, you have been my support. Seeing this farewell makes me very proud to belong to Real Madrid. Thank you for the return of Real Madrid, and for being by my side in good times and bad. Some careers are defined by successes, I just want you to remember me with pride and certainty that I gave everything I could for this jersey. Yesterday, today, and always, Hala Madrid!"
