Barcelona Accelerates Negotiations to Sign Alvarez

Spanish press reports revealed that Barcelona has started to move seriously to sign the Argentine striker Julian Alvarez, a player for Atletico Madrid, during the upcoming transfer window.

Journalist Matteo Moretto, during his appearance on Spanish radio Marca, confirmed that Barcelona's management has decided to speed up its steps to finalize the deal with the Argentine international striker, amid the club's desire to strengthen its attacking line.

Moretto explained that Barcelona considers strengthening the striker position a top priority after the departure of Robert Lewandowski, placing Julian Alvarez at the top of its offensive targets list.

The Spanish journalist stated in his comments: "Barcelona wants Alvarez to be the first choice."

He added that the Catalan club has already started contacts with Atletico Madrid's management and the player's agent, noting that previous talks have taken place over the past months with the Argentine striker's representatives.

Moretto pointed out that the deal seems financially complicated, explaining that Atletico Madrid is asking for more than 100 million euros to agree to sell the player.

He also explained that Barcelona is considering the possibility of including some players in the deal to reduce the amount required by Atletico Madrid.

The same source confirmed that Julian Alvarez currently feels comfortable in Madrid, but at the same time, he indicated that the player and his agent would consider any significant offer that may arrive in the coming period.

The report confirmed that Barcelona also has Joao Pedro among its offensive options, but it will continue to push in the coming weeks to try to advance in negotiations to sign Julian Alvarez.
