Presidential Elections in Real Madrid Delay Mourinho's Return

The Spanish newspaper "Marca" revealed that the possibility of Spanish businessman Enrique Riquelme running in the Real Madrid presidential elections may lead to a delay in the official announcement of José Mourinho's return to coaching the team.

According to the report, the selection of Mourinho by the current president, Florentino Perez, has already been decided, and the announcement of the deal was expected to be made immediately after the end of the current season. However, the potential entry of Riquelme into the electoral race has changed the dynamics within the club.

The newspaper added that the best scenario would be to only delay the announcement, while the other scenario is linked to the possibility of Florentino Perez losing the elections, which could entirely threaten the project of bringing Mourinho back to the Santiago Bernabeu.

The report confirmed that Riquelme's candidacy does not directly affect the club's sports planning, as the regulations allow administrative work and contracts to continue normally during the election period, whether in terms of deals or player departures.

However, on the other hand, the Real Madrid management believes that appointing a new coach of Mourinho's caliber is a crucial decision tied to the future of the sports project. Therefore, they prefer not to make this decision before the anticipated presidential elections scheduled for early June.

The source indicated that Real Madrid was planning to first announce the departure of Álvaro Arbeloa after the end of the league, before officially revealing Mourinho early next week. However, electoral developments may postpone the entire process.
