Asad Al-Hamlawi Nears Joining AEK Athens
Press reports have revealed that Asad Al-Hamlaoui, a player for Romania's Universitatea Craiova, is close to joining Greece's AEK Athens club.
The player's name has been linked on more than one occasion with joining Al Ahly of Egypt.
The Romanian newspaper "Pro Sport" reported that AEK Athens, the Greek champion, is monitoring Asaad Al-Hamlaoui and has expressed its willingness to pay 1.6 million euros to sign the striker. However, the Romanian club's management considered this amount insufficient.
She continued: "The Greek team wants to pay 1.6 million euros to sign the Palestinian striker, but this amount does not satisfy Mihai Rotaru, the president of Universitatea Craiova, so negotiations will continue in the coming period."
The newspaper concluded: "If the deal is eventually completed, Hamalawy will face fierce competition at AEK Athens, as the team relies on former Real Madrid and Milan star, Croatian Luka Jović, in the attack."
