Italian Competition to Sign Zirkzee and Scamacca

Friday 22-05-2026
Press reports in Italy suggest that Roma and Milan may enter into a direct battle during the upcoming summer transfer window to sign striker Gianluca Scamacca from Atalanta and striker Joshua Zirkzee from Manchester United.

The newspapers 'Tuttosport' and 'Calciomercato' reported that both clubs are working on reshaping their attacking lines, with Roma looking to strengthen their squad in anticipation of a potential return to the Champions League in the 2026/2027 season, while Milan, under the leadership of Massimiliano Allegri, continues to seek attacking solutions amidst frequent changes between Christian Pulisic, Rafael Leao, Christopher Nkunku, Santiago Gimenez, and Füllkrug during the current season.

The same reports indicated that Atalanta is asking for approximately 30 million euros to part with Scamacca, despite having signed him from West Ham in 2023 for 28 million euros, as the player approaches the final season of his contract.

The sources also clarified that Joshua Zirkzee, Manchester United's player, was previously linked with a move to Roma and Milan, with the possibility of renewed interest in signing him during the next summer transfer market.

The reports added that there is a possibility of a swap deal between Manchester United and Milan if the English club is interested in signing Leao, which could open the door to including Zirkzee in the deal along with a financial sum.

In a related context, Milan continues to monitor several other strikers such as Juventus' Dusan Vlahovic and Randal Kolo Muani, while Roma is watching other names including Antonio Nusa and Mason Greenwood.
