Laporta Opens Fire on Perez: Trying to Justify His Failure in the Last Two Seasons
The president of Barcelona Club, Joan Laporta, spoke in a sharp tone in response to the recent press conference by Real Madrid Club president Florentino Perez, in which the latter announced his call for club elections and confirmed his candidacy, in addition to the club being affected by the famous Negreira case.
Laporta described Perez's conference as "ridiculous but strategic," accusing the Real Madrid president of trying to divert media attention from the team's failure to win any titles in the last two seasons.
Laporta said in statements to the media: "As I told you... the goal is to divert attention from two years without titles, and this is what worries them a lot."
The Catalan president believes that the royal club needs to provide explanations to its fans due to the recent lack of championships, saying: "Pérez tried to justify what cannot be justified."
Laporta confirmed that Barcelona will not ignore Perez's statements, who claimed that Barcelona stole titles from Real Madrid due to the Negreira case. He emphasized that the club will take an official stance and institutional response to what is happening, stating: "We will not allow this, and there will certainly be a response from the club."
