Deco Hints at Possible Signing of Alvarez and Raises Uncertainty About Joao Pedro

Barcelona is still working on identifying the new striker who will replace Robert Lewandowski, with the name of Argentine Julian Alvarez emerging as one of the top options being considered by the club.

Deco, Barcelona's sporting director, spoke during the team's celebrations of the Spanish league title about the club's offensive plans and potential forwards for the upcoming period.

When asked about the possibility of signing Atlético Madrid player Julián Álvarez, Deco said: "We do not rule out any player, nor do we sign any player."

Regarding another name being discussed, Joao Pedro, the Chelsea striker, Deco indirectly clarified his stance by saying, "You are mistaken about Joao Pedro."

Deco also spoke about Robert Lewandowski's departure, emphasizing the difficulty of replacing him, and said: "It's a somewhat sad day because Robert Lewandowski's departure has become certain. It's almost impossible to replace Lewandowski, the best striker in recent years. In Barcelona, it's always difficult to compensate, but that's football."

He added: "Ferran came as a winger and turned into a number 9 striker. Now is the time to make decisions and strengthen the team."
