Dybala Agrees to Salary Reduction to Extend His Contract with Roma

Thursday 21-05-2026
Reports on Thursday indicated that Paulo Dybala is preparing to accept a significant pay cut in order to extend his contract with AS Roma for an additional season, despite strong interest from the Argentine club Boca Juniors.

His current contract with Roma ends at the end of June, with previous interest from Boca Juniors and Fenerbahçe. However, "La Gazzetta dello Sport" reported that the player is close to continuing with the Giallorossi, with the possibility of an official announcement regarding his future at the beginning of next week.

The newspaper clarified that Dybala is expected to sign a new one-season contract with the possibility of extending for an additional season, with a fixed salary of approximately 2.5 million euros annually, excluding bonuses related to goals and appearances.

The 32-year-old Argentine forward was earning a basic salary of around 8 million euros annually, but he expressed his willingness to take a significant pay cut to stay in the Italian capital, recognizing the advanced stage of his career and his repeated injuries in recent years.

The newspaper itself indicates that the issue of continuation was not related to money for Dybala, but rather his desire to stay with the team and contribute to its expected European journey next season, along with his feeling of stability in Rome with his family, especially after the birth of his first daughter in March.

AS Roma welcomes Dybala's continued presence, given his role and experience in the locker room, as his impact has become evident recently. The team experienced a downturn in March during his absence due to a knee injury, but has since achieved four consecutive victories following his return to the match lineup.
