Barcelona Moves to Renew Ferran Torres' Contract

Thursday 21-05-2026
Barcelona has begun planning to retain Ferran Torres for the upcoming phase, after the Spanish forward established himself as one of the team's standout players thanks to his impressive performance and attacking statistics this season.

The Spanish newspaper 'Sport' indicated that Barcelona's management intends to propose an offer to renew Ferran Torres' contract, which expires on June 30, 2027, following the strong performance he delivered under coach Hans Flick.

Ferran Torres is preparing to conclude his season with Barcelona in a match against Valencia at the Mestalla Stadium, before joining the Spanish national team camp in preparation for participating in the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, where his name is expected to appear on coach Luis de la Fuente's list.

The Spanish forward had an outstanding season with Barcelona, scoring 21 goals in 48 matches, and participated in a significant number of games as a main forward, surpassing Robert Lewandowski at times, which reinforced the coaching staff's confidence in his abilities.

Barcelona's sports management sees retaining Ferran Torres as crucial, especially after Lewandowski's departure, while the club continues to work on signing a new forward during the upcoming summer transfer window to fully strengthen the front line.

Ferran Torres joined Barcelona in January 2022 from Manchester City for 55 million euros and has successfully scored 65 goals wearing the Catalan team's jersey since then, playing a prominent role in the last two seasons with Hans Flick.

The Spanish newspaper added that the player is highly regarded inside the locker room and enjoys a strong relationship with several team stars, most notably Pedri, in addition to feeling comfortable within the club and his desire to continue for many years with Barcelona.

Despite interest from other clubs, such as Atletico Madrid, in signing the Spanish player, Barcelona prioritizes his continuation, especially after recent speculation about the possibility of him being offered for sale during the summer.

The sports management has not yet begun formal negotiations with the player's agents but plans to open the file in the coming period, considering the financial fair play rules and salary cap, which will affect the timing and terms of the final agreement.
