Surprises Abound: Announcement of Egypt's Preliminary Squad for the 2026 World Cup

The technical staff of Egypt's national team, led by Hossam Hassan, has approved the preliminary list in preparation for the 2026 World Cup, with notable names and young faces appearing for the first time.

The list includes 27 players, with the final decision to settle on 26 players after the anticipated friendly match against Russia on May 28, as part of the final preparations for the global tournament.

The team's selections saw the continued presence of the Pharaohs' core players, led by Mohamed Salah, Omar Marmoush, and Imam Ashour, along with a group of young players looking to prove themselves.

Ibrahim Hassan, the manager of Egypt's national team, confirmed that the team's official camp will start tomorrow, May 21, at the National Teams Center, in preparation for the final stage before traveling to the World Cup.

The manager explained that the final list will be announced after the end of the friendly match against Russia, especially since FIFA has set a limit of 26 players for the final squad of each participating team.

The list is as follows:

Goalkeepers: Mohamed El-Shenawy, Mostafa Shobeir, El-Mahdi Soliman, Mohamed Alaa.

Defense: Mohamed Hani, Tarek Alaa, Hamdi Fathi, Rami Rabia, Yasser Ibrahim, Hossam Abdelmagid, Mohamed Abdelmonem, Ahmed Fattouh, Karim Hafez.
