Barcelona Withdraws from Bastoni Deal

Wednesday 20-05-2026
Barcelona has decided to withdraw from the deal to sign the Italian defender Alessandro Bastoni, at a time when the player was a priority to strengthen the defense line during the upcoming transfer period, at the request of the technical staff led by Hans Flick.

According to the Spanish newspaper 'Sport', the sports management in Barcelona, led by Deco, studied several options to strengthen the center-back position, considering Bastoni as an ideal option technically, despite some initial reservations within the technical team.

The reports added that the Catalan club believed that the player might be open to a new experience in the Spanish league, but negotiations did not reach an advanced stage due to Inter Milan's insistence on their financial demands.

The source indicated that Inter Milan set a price of no less than 70 million euros to relinquish the player's services, an amount Barcelona deemed unsuitable given the club's current financial situation.

With the negotiations becoming increasingly complicated and no clear pressure from the player to facilitate his exit, Barcelona ultimately decided to close the deal permanently, shifting focus to other targets in the transfer market.
